My Superbowl Sunday

Sweater// on Sale at all LF Stores 60% off (similar sweater here)
Skirt// LF  (similar skirt here)
Shoes// Matisse Footwear (similar boots here)
I imagine that most of you spent your Superbowl Sunday with an excessive amount of guacamole, 7 layer bean dip, and whatever other kind of wonderful food you are capable of cooking and for good measure some beer while you watch Katy Perry perform and more commercials in one sitting then you will watch the rest of the year (and I guess the game). I however am not a fan of the Superbowl, including the halftime show and commercials. I've tried to get into it a few times, went to some parties in college, occasionally watch the halftime show and commercials online so I know what the rest of the world is talking about the next day...but I couldn't really find it in myself to care this year. So I did what any non loving SuperBowl human would do, I brunched! I picked up Steph and we headed to Square One Dining in East Hollywood (fun fact it's across the street from the Scientology Center). I've been wanting to try this spot for a while, the last time my mom was in town visiting we attempted to go there for breakfast but after 30 minutes of searching for parking we gave up and headed to GRUB one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles. I will admit parking is quite difficult, and there was about a 25 to 30 minute wait for a table but it was absolutely worth it! The restaurant kinda looks like a whole in the wall but it has a very charming outdoor patio that we were lucky enough to be seated in. This place really cares about the quality and freshness of their ingredients. After debating between the pancakes with a bacon infused carmel sauce and breakfast tacos, I went with the tacos and a fruit salad that consisted of mangoes, apples, pears, oranges, and pomegranate seeds. It was easily the best fruit salad i've ever had, and I wasn't complaining about the tacos! I can't wait to go back and try the pancakes.

While very slowly cleaning out my closet the last few weeks I've discovered that I have too many pieces that I've either never worn or only worn once or twice. When I was getting dressed for brunch I decided to try to wear some of these neglected pieces. I honestly can't tell you the last time I wore the patterned skirt, and almost positive my Matisse shoes have never seen the light of day. I love the look of an oversized sweater thrown over a short dress or skirt, and this sweater is especially fun because of the low v back.

What did you guys do for Superbowl Sunday?!

The Unpacking Game

Mesh Top// LF Robertson Blvd
Bralette// Victoria's Secret Pink
Skirt// Windsor Navy Plaid Sweater Skirt c/o
Shoes// The Blonde Salad X Steve Madden ( on sale from $149.50 to $44.98!)
Coin Purse// LF Robertson

Why do you always need a vacation after you go on a vacation?! Whenever I come back from a trip whether it's someplace like Hawaii or London (this time Quebec City) I need multiple days to learn to function like a real human being again. One of the most dreaded things about returning from a vacation is the process of unpacking. I put it off for dayyyssss, and the longer I put it off the worse I feel and the more anxiety I get. So lately when I unpack I tend to place dress up. I try to figure out new ways to wear things in my suitcase with things I didn't bring along with me. It clearly does not shorten the unpacking process, and often causes my room to become a disaster for a few hours, but it does make the process a little more bearable and I come out of it with some great new looks! While I started this trips unpacking process I took my Blonde Salad X Steve Madden shoes out of my suitcase (why I thought they would be appropriate for 0 degree weather is beyond me) and realized that I have never actually worn these shoes...and I bought them last year. I decided that I absolutely needed to find a cute outfit to wear them with! My goal was also to make sure the outfit was appropriate daytime wear, because I tend to become a homebody at night and don't go out that often. I paired the shoes first with my cozy Navy Plaid Sweater Skirt from Windsor  , and  began trying to straighten up a mess in one of my closets which led me to the white mesh top I picked out. I love this outfit because it's easy and comfortable but left me not looking like a homeless person. You could easily wear this out on a lunch date, a coffee meeting, or even a shopping trip. I could also see myself swapping out the white mesh top for a cute leather crop top and wearing this out on a Friday night.

I'm trying to come up with some new post ideas for the new year, is there anything you guys would love to see?! You can comment below, email me, or find me on instagram @leather.lace.andcupcakes and send me a message.

Winter Wonderland

Coat// Forever 21
Flannel// Furst of a Kind (bought at LF Robertson)
Sweater// LF Robertson
Wax Denim// Carmar Denim
Rain boots// Jeffrey Campbell
Purse// Marc by Marc Jacobs
Beanie// Free People
Quebec City is December is LITERALLY how I imagine Christmas in my mind. I currently feel like I"m frolicking about in a Charles Dickens novel as I pass by every street corner. People are happy, there is snow on the ground, and Christmas decorations galore (and I'm basically staying in a Castle). Also the food so far has been amazing! I stopped by a cute little Maple Cafe and tried this hot milk concoction with maple butter and cinnamon and needless to say it was amazing. I'm absolutely going to be eating my way through this city... and counting down the hours until my scheduled food tour of the city! If you guys have any great recommendations for places to eat or things to see let me know!

I thought I was going to be much braver then I actually was in the cold when I got dressed in the morning. I paired my Forever 21 coat with a flannel and black sweater, a pair of waxed jeans, rain boots, and my new free people beanie obsession. I thought the coat would keep me warm enough outside and that I'd get really hot inside and take it off and stay warm with my flannel and sweater....false,false,false. Tomorrow I will probably opt for a parka.  Don't worry though I continued to make poor outfit decisions for dinner wearing a short black velvet dress and tights.

Coat// Planet Blue (recently back in stock!)
Dress// Emma & Sam
Knee Socks// Free People
Boots// Stuart Weitzman
Here are a few of my favorite pictures of the city so far! Thousands more will come I'm sure. I get so excited around Christmas time guys, especially when there is SNOW and i'm in some sort of magic winter wonderland!

Any tips on dressing for the cold?! I've only lived in warm places my entire life... I could clearly use some advice.

The Year Round Crop Top

Crop Top// Wonderland Honolulu c/o
Leather Vest// Aviatrix Leather
Flannel// LF Robertson blvd
Jeans// Carmar Denim (bought at LF Robertson)
Key necklace// The Giving Key
I absolutely love hanging out at the Grove around the holiday season. The christmas tree, and the snow that falls makes it feel like a magical winter wonderland.  I had such a wonderful day strolling around with my bestie, looking at all of the Christmas decorations, grabbing lunch at the farmers market (best iced coffee at Short Cake LA), and popping in at the Revolve Pop Up shop where I purchased a House of Harlow Ring I'm beyond obsessed with.

The weather in LA is a bit bipolar. One day it's hot outside and the next day there is a brisk chill. This can make it a bit difficult to get dressed in the morning. I absolutely love this new crop top from Wonderland Honolulu it's so soft and comfortable and can be easily worn all year round. Pair it with ripped jeans and a flannel in the fall or a skirt and knee socks, and a pair of cut offs in the summer. Nothing better then a basic crop or a basic tshirt, I feel like I can never have enough!

Are you a fan of crop tops in the fall/winter? Would love to see how you style them if you are!

-Xoxo Becca

Biker Chic

Leather Vest// Aviatrix (bought at LF Robertson)
White Tank Top// Project Social T (bought at Urban Outfitters)
Black Jeans// Carmar Denim (LF Robertson)
Shoes// Steve Madden
Bag// Celine
Cross// Urban Outfitters
Gold Stamped Necklace// All The Wire Double Or Nothin'
Bracelets// Matocha RockLuxe Jewels
For my moms last night in LA we headed to Mercado for an early 5 o'clock dinner (I'm such an old person). I highly recommend the sweet corn and the hibiscus mezcal marg! After many days of not washing my hair I attempted to rock a top knot, which I haven't really done since I cut my hair a year ago. After 10 minutes and 15 bobby pins later I think it came out pretty good...but certainly not as time efficient as it was with long hair (and who knows what the back of it actually looked like). I've been living in this white tank top all weekend, I'm one of those people that owns 100 different plain white tops in every fit possible. I got this Aviatrix leather Vest at the LF Robertson summer sale for close to 70% off and i've been waiting for an opportunity to wear it! When my mom and I left my apartment she made a comment that I looked like a Biker Chick, and I couldn't help but agree...this is a very biker chic  outfit. I am so excited to style this vest in different ways this fall and winter, waiting for this vest to go on sale was well worth the wait.

Have a great Monday!!

Black Is The New Black

Top// Top Shop LA
Skirt// LF Robertson
Shoes// Dolce Vita
Left Bracelet// LF Robertson
Right Bracelet// Lucky Brand
Hat// Janessa Leone
Every season I hear that a new color is the new black, but I just want to know why can't black be the new black? Why are we trying to always replace black?! I feel like it's a universal color, I challenge you to name one person that black doesn't look amazing on! Anyways.... I'm sort of obsessed with this black skirt I bought at LF last summer, it looks like the Helmut Lang draped skirt ( but a version I can afford).

My mom is in town visiting me for her birthday, and we went to the Penthouse at Mastros for her birthday dinner. It was one of those nights when everything in my closet seemed unacceptable and I had a pile of clothes growing alarmingly fast on bed. It became clear to me that it was going to be a black on black night.. because black on black never fails me. I was also thankful for the stretchy waist band of my skirt after having lobster mashed potatoes, crab stuffed mushrooms, steak, green beans, and three different desserts. Overall it was a successful evening!

I love this picture of my mom and I. Don't we look so much alike? We ordered a butter cake, and a chocolate pudding cake (like a flourless chocolate cake), and the restaurant was kind enough to give us a chocolate cake on the house in celebration of my beautiful mom.

What are your favorite colors for this fall season? Are you as obsessed with black as me? I'd love to know what you guys like!

Darling Magazine Fall Release Party

Top// LF Robertson
Vest// Alice & Olivia
Shorts//Indikah (similar pair here)
Shoes//Jeffrey Campbell
Necklace// Natalie B
Hat// D&Y
Bracelets// LF Robertson & Abercrombie and Fitch
Purse// Marc by Marc Jacobs
I had the opportunity to go to the Darling Magazine fall issue release party in Downtown LA which included music, drinks, photobooths, and best of all brownies and food trucks.  If you didn't know Darling Magazine focuses on empowering women. The fall issue had a very special unique twist, none of the women in the magazine were retouched. I hope that as time progresses we will see more and more magazines following in suit. What a dream it would be for young girls to look at fashion magazines and see people on the cover that look like them and not something completely unobtainable without a bff relationship with photoshop.

One of my very favorite looks that I love constantly recreating is tailored shorts (or skirts) with knee socks and/or tights. Even though it was extremely hot out I couldn't resist this outfit any longer! This love for knee socks with shorts and skirts must come from watching Clueless one too many times (or maybe from attending Catholic highschool...). I completed this outfit with the Alice & Olivia long white vest, because I felt like it polished the look a bit more.

Hope you guys have a beautiful weekend!!

-Xoxo Becca

P.S. In honor of National Suicide Prevention week I challenge each of you to give a compliment to a stranger or commit an act of kindness towards someone you don't know. It's absolutely amazing how these small acts can change someones day or life! I would love to hear about your kind acts in my comment section!

Happy Hour

Top//Madison & Berkeley 'Dream' Pocket Tank (bought at Nordstrom)
Shorts// One Teaspoon Outlaws
Shoes// Steve Madden Sandy
Purse// Marc by Marc Jacobs
Star Bangles// Bought at a tiny market place in Maui
Gold Plated Necklace// All the Wire- Double or Nothin
Gold Bracelet// LF Robertson
Gold Arm Band// LF Robertson
Sunglasses// Tory Burch
One of my favorite things to do is go to a good Happy Hour. Sometimes you don't want to dress up, sometimes you want to go in your pajamas. Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ is the perfect spot for that day you want to happy hour but don't want to get dressed up. You can get soooo much food for so cheap, and wear whatever you want! It's also within walking distance of my apartment, always a plus! I opted to wear these One Teaspoon Outlaw shorts, which have been a staple for me the past summer ( I alternate between these and my Mink Pink Slasher shorts). In the last year I've found myself really gravitating towards graphic tee's and tank tops and Madison & Berkeley has some of my favorite, including this 'Dream' pocket tank top.  The black, white, and turquoise star bangle bracelets are my favorite part of this look. I got these bracelets at a small market place in Maui, despite the fact that they constantly fall off of my small wrists. This outfit really worked with my going on 4 days unwashed hair...

If you guys live in LA, do you have any go to Happy Hour spots?! I would love to hear about them.
