Fashion For Change

The other week I was at the Grove  doing a little light reading outside, you know.... just catching up on my Freud. I stumbled upon a gem when I noticed a kiosk set up with some graphic tshirts and vintage looking jewelry.  Naturally I was curious and strolled on down.  I fell in love with the brand Love Tree which was started in 2005 by Tyler.  Tyler hoped to create change in the world through story telling. Each shirt contains a unique story written on the inside. In 2008 he and his wife expanded the line to jewelry.

Story written on the inside of the shirt above.

J'adore Texas

Crop Top// Southward Apparel
Dress// Citrus and Ginger (bought at Kitson)
Necklaces// LF Robertson
Bracelets// Nordstrom's BP section
Fedora// Hardware
Purse//Coach
This is the perfect brunch outfit for those days you wish you hand't made plans, can't cancel or be bothered to get dressed. I'm obsessed with this J'adore Texas crop top by Southward Apparel. It can be used as a bathing suit cover up, worn with cute high waisted denim cut offs, or thrown over a great maxi like this Citrus and Ginger one. I went to Baylor for Undergrad, so I have a soft spot in my heart for Texas.

The turquoise pendent necklace from LF Robertson Blvd gives the outfit a pop of color, and the bangle bracelets from the BP section at Nordstrom's are a great finisher. The fedora was necessary after one to many days of not washing my hair (you can only use dry shampoo so many times).

Lastly, how can you not love these black studded gladiator Sam Edleman sandals?

You can click here to check out more from Southward Apparel. I'm slightly obsessed with this brand and the girls who own it, expect to see more of them in posts to come!

Rooftops & Barbecues

One of my favorite things about the apartment building I live at in LA is the rooftop. It feels like my own private sanctuary. With its beautiful views of the city, it's also the perfect place to have a summer barbecue. I've lived here for three years now, and have yet to really take advantage of the possibilities of this rooftop. One of my summer goals is to host a barbecue with all of my friends.

Dress// Charms Fashion (bought at LF Larchmont)
Bralette// Love Mar (bought at LF Robertson)
Shoes// Sam Edleman
Bracelet// Lucky Brand
Necklaces// Gifts
Fedora// Hardware
This is the outfit I envision wearing to my future barbecue. The dress is perfect for a warm sunny day in LA. You can pair the dress with a Fedora to keep the sun out of your eyes, or if hats aren't for you maybe try a flowery headband.

Jean Jacket// Rampage (bought at Nordstroms 9 years ago)
If your barbecue goes on into the night and it starts to get a little chilly throw on a jean jacket over your floral dress and roll the sleeves up a bit. This is one of my favorite jean jackets I bought at Nordstrom's when I was a junior in high school. If your in the market for a good jean jacket though, I actually think that Abercrombie and Fitch is a great place to try.

What are some of your favorite barbecue looks?

Desert Baby

Everyone in the greater Los Angeles area is going to think I'm crazy, but everyday of the week should be between 90 and 100 degrees. This IS the ideal temperature. It must be obvious to you by now that I am a desert baby. I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona... so naturally a trip to Palm Springs is like going home.

Last week the desert was calling my name (and so was a pool), so off  to Palm Springs I went with my bestie for a much needed getaway. After a a little lunch by the pool and a dip in the water, this seemed liked the perfect outfit to grab some mexican food and stroll around downtown.

Top//  Crop Back Zip Tank Alice and Olivia

Shoes// Sam Edelman

Loved this picture that Stephanie took because it shows the exposed zipper on both the tank and skirt.

To be honest I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to jewelry, but I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone lately. Here are a couple of necklaces that I have been obsessed with, that made the trip to the desert with me.

 Left// Stella and Dot
Right// Lucky

Sometimes I like to go a little bit crazy and wear these two necklaces together.

If you ever want  to escape the 70 degree breezy beach weather, wear white lace and a fedora let me know and I'll  be your partner in crime (just don't let me forget my spf 70).

Stephanie Tanner Inspired...

Other then leather and lace, I can't get enough of plaid. Red plaid, green plaid, blue plaid....they all bring a smile to my face. If I can mix leather, lace, and plaid thats basically a dream guys.
Top//ASTR
Bralette//Victoria Secret
Shorts//JBrand
Shoes//Jeffery Campbell
Bracelett//LF
Necklace//was a gift

This outfit provided the perfect combination of leather, lace, and plaid for a warm sunny day in LA. I'm not gonna lie but I'm pretty sure my obsession with plaid comes from Stephanie Tanner in the show Full House (more then an obsession, go ahead ask me anything about Full House...you can't stump me!).

One of my favorite Stephanie Tanner looks.

To top off this grungey 90's inspired look, I wanted to give my hair a bit of texture and bend to it. I used Oribe Dry Texture Spray to mess it up a bit and a 1inch curling wand to give it some bend. You could also use some sort of sea salt spray like Unite Beach Day Spray to help with the beachy messy waves.

Anyways as you can probably tell by now, this blog is just me rambling about my personal style and maybe life in general. Going to Palm Springs this weekend for a wonderful girls getaway with the bestie, and will be working on becoming a less ghostly human being(while wearing copious amounts of spf 70). Can't wait to take pictures and share with you guys!
