November Necessities:It's all about the Accessories

November means it's holiday season! I start dreaming about pumpkin pie, black friday, sugar cookie tea  (yes this is a real thing, and it's magical), what it's like to live in a city where leaves turn colors, and how every pair of tights I own from last year seems to have a run in them. This month for my necessities section i'm focusing on some of my faves/crave accessories and shoes.

Hats

As you can tell from my blog and Insta feed if you've been following, i'm maybe a bit obsessed with hats. To be honest this obsession is very recent. Before I cut my hair a year ago, I never ever wore hats. With my shorter textured hair, hats have a whole new feel on me, and they really complete an outfit! They also honestly make me feel more comfortable when I take pictures for the blog and instagram. Here are some hats currently on my wish list.

Tights/Socks

I have ALWAYS been a lover of tights and socks. When I was five my mom used to dress me in mis matched lacy and slouchy socks, in high school I wore knee socks everyday with my school uniform and doc martins, and now I see them as the perfect way to keep wearing that skirt or dress all year round. I love to layer socks over tights and each other and use them to add a pop of color or texture to an outfit. These are some of favorites that I find to be a must for my closet.

Over the Knee Boots/Sneakers

Every season I am on the constant look out for the perfect over the knee boot! I have absolutely been in love with them for the last few seasons, but find it a struggle to find ones that stay up on me all day long and don't start slouching. I think it may be time to invest in a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots, from what I hear they are perfection. I've also been starting to build a bit of a sneaker collection! I find that one of my favorite ways to wear them is with a simple leather skirt, sweatshirt, or tshirt.

Bags

I really own a handful of bags and purses. I tend to just use the same ones over and over. I like to keep a big tote bag, small cross body bag, and a backpack or two. I also tend to stick with neutrals and blacks. In the last few months I've started to covet more and more purses, maybe i'll add some of these to my Christmas list!

I know I haven't been keeping up with the blog in the last month, but when my applications are completed and submitted for grad school December 1st, I promise i'll get better!

I have decided that I would like to a weekly street style section. I'd like to roam around town and take pictures and interview people who inspire my style, feature people from Instagram, and who send in email submissions! If you'd like to be featured send me an email (laprade.rebecca@gmail.com) with a picture of you in an outfit that makes you feel wonderful and confident, your name, occupation, and your current style must haves and must nots! Or you can tag me on instagram or #llcstreetstyle and every Wednesday i'll do a feature on my blog and Instagram. You guys can let me know if you love it and want me to keep it up, or I should ditch it.

When You're Not at NYFW....

Dress// Alice & Olivia
Shorts// Forever 21(you can also see them style here)
Bralette// Free People Galloon
Shoes// Dolce Vita
Bracelet// Lucky Brand
Cross Necklace// gifted to me
Hat// Janessa Leone

When your entire Instagram feed is of NYFW (and your not there), obviously the only solution is to head to a brunch with a make your own mimosa bar. I headed to Pearls Bar on Sunset in West Hollywood with my beautiful friend Julia for a little girls time. I've said now in previous posts that I'm very over  summer and summer clothes and sooo ready for fall, this is totally reflected in my outfit choice for brunch. I am in love with this sheer Alice & Olivia dress, it's cool enough to wear in this warm weather, but paired with my faux leather Forever 21 shorts and maroon Free People Bralette its perfect for the fall transition. When the weather starts to get cooler my favorite colors to wear are blacks, reds, and maroons (can anyone say vampy?).

Have you been keeping up with NYFW '14? What are some of the trends you are looking forward to in the coming year? I know i'm glad that plaid is here to stay for another year....prepare for lots of plaid in my posts.

Lavender Fields

I love driving upcountry and spending the morning at the Lavender Farm. I always enjoy a nice hot cup of lavender chamomile tea and a lavender scone with some lavender honey. It's one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It also means so much to me because this is a place my dad and I went to every year together, and now when I go back I can think of the memories we shared.

Top// Free People
Jeans// Carmar Denim Crochet Boyfriend Jeans
Kimono// LF Robertson
Shoes// Steve Madden
Necklace// LF Robertson
Sunglasses// Tory & Burch
Purse// Marc by Marc Jacobs Cross Body Bag
I originally was wearing a pair of high waisted cut off shorts and a plain white t-shirt, but my mom reminded me that it's much colder in the mountains.  I went for my trusted LF Carmar crochet boyfriend jeans, a flowy Free People tank, and a Kimono over it for added warmth (and easy to take off if it is warm). I also thought the colors in the Kimono and pattern matched nicely with the background of the farm.

Here are some more of my favorite pictures from the day.

Bonus: If you head up to the Lavender Farm, there is the most amazing food truck up there now. You can enjoy the best Fried Zucchini and Pulled Pork sliders, while playing with the most adorable teacup Yorki. It's clearly a win win situation.

This week is going to be a busy week full of volunteering at some wonderful organizations around the Los Angeles area, so I wanted to make sure I had a relaxing but fun Sunday. I started the day off with my version of working out( walking about 2 miles around my neighborhood at a slow pace) while listening to the same song on repeat. As a reward for my vigorous workout I decided to stroll around Larchmont Ave. and do a little window shopping. The mesh overlay shirt over the black lacy floral romper was great for walking around. It was a bit warm outside but the outfit was kind of easy breezy. I also knew that I was going to go out to dinner later that night and could pair the romper with a pair of Alice & Olivia black booties and dress it up a bit (at dinner I opted to take the mesh overlay off).

Happy Monday!!!! Hope your week is full of beauty, love, and laughter.

Fiesta Friday

Dress// Bought at LF Robertson Blvd
Slip// Ascot & Heart Seamless Black Slip
Shoes// Jeffrey Campbell Black Everwell cut outs
Necklaces// Bought at LF Robertson
Bracelet// Lucky Brand
Hat// Janessa Leone Vera Hat (bought at LF Robertson Blvd)
After spending about an hour or so on my couch wearing a pair of yoga pants and nike shoes in hopes that this would inspire me to work out.... I realized that was clearly a joke (In reality I was just watching Melrose Place).  I decided to throw on some clothes and head to dinner at Pink Taco with my friend Mallory from Bad Wolf Brunch. I had about ten minutes to get ready, and found this LF dress from last summer and decided to wear it over my new black seamless Ascot & Heart black tank slip. These Jeffrey Campbell black Everwell cut out boots are an obsession of mine and often get the privilege to venture outside of my closet. I think the cut outs in the boot make them a great summer option. I'm also a big supporter of pendent necklaces, and this summer i've been all about the turquoise. This is the summer of hats for me, so I tend to wear them quite often despite hating them in May.

I don't know about you, but I have big plans for this weekend. I'll be watching endless episodes of Melrose Place on Hulu probably in yoga pants. Then I'll read a summer romance novel I shamelessly bought in the young adult section at Barnes and Nobles while wondering at 25 why I'm not as cool as the teenagers I'm reading about (obviously listening to Taylor Swifts I'm feeling 22). And if I'm feeling reaalllyyy crazy I might just attempt to cook something from Pintrest...and then order takeout when that fails as per usual. Have a great weekend!!
